    The Nurse Clinical Reviewer is responsible for the contacting, assessing, educating and scheduling patients for colonoscopies pursuant to ACPNY open access policy. Conducts medical chart audits to assess appropriateness for open access scheduling, identifies factors which require a GI consultation and facilitates appropriate scheduling of procedures in house as well as off site. Handles GI work queues at multiple locations and obtain authorizations where applicable. 


    This role allows flexibility to work out of Long Island, Brooklyn, Staten Island or Manhattan with a possibility to work four ten hour shifts.


    • Serve as the clinical liaison between the referring physician and the procedural gastroenterologist
    • Evaluates clinical documentation and communicates clinical appropriate instruction and education to patients
    • Educates patients on pre and post endoscopy preparation and follow up care; schedules endoscopy appointments
    • Provide clinical knowledge and act as clinical resource to the non-clinical team
    • Enter clinical information into Epic
    • Evaluate and obtain authorizations as needed for procedures and appointments
    • Prepare and facilitate hospital procedures when needed (as per clinical protocol)



      • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
      • Current, unrestricted, New York State Registered Nurse license
      • Minimum 3 years’ nursing experience
      • Proficient in Excel and Word
      • Ability to organize and set priorities to complete workload in a timely and efficient manner
    • Must be able to work within a team environment that requires consistent, accurate and precise communication among team members


    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
    • Clinical review experience
    • Epic knowledge and experience a plus
    • Knowledge of ICD-10 Coding
