    The Phlebotomist is responsible for obtaining and preparing specimens for analysis. He or she shall perform various screening tests on clinical specimens and maintain quality assurance standards.



    • Phlebotomist will be responsible for performing venipuncture and finger sticks utilizing aseptic techniques compliant with the Company’s procedures and general clinical standards to obtain patient blood specimens. 
    • Perform and secure bleeding time tests, blood cultures, blood collection and sampling. and handling.              
    • Communicate all tests results to physicians or other personnel in accordance with established procedures.       
    • Responsible for documentation and recordkeeping of all work performed.
    • Communicate with patients regarding the procedure(s) being performed.  
    • Ensure and maintain an adequate inventory of all necessary supplies, including medical equipment, forms and other inventory that may be required.         
    • Ensure that all specimen requirements are met at the time of collection and maintain their integrity at all times.       
    • Greet and register patients arriving for procedures, other services or care.  Might be responsible for scheduling follow-up appointments, procedures and/or results.             
    • May complete or assist in the completion of various patient forms such as insurance claim, worker’s compensation and other similar forms. 
    • Answer telephones and perform other clerical functions related to the department.             
    • Performs other job-related duties as required.      




    • High School Diploma or GED required
    • Successful completion of the curriculum in Phlebotomy from an accredited school; or two (2) years recent experience in the capacity of a Phlebotomist required. Phlebotomy/MA certification required.
    • A minimum of one (1) year technical experience, preferably in a medical environment and prior experience in a fast-paced, high patient volume environment are highly desirable.
    • Excellent communication skills required.
    • Demonstrated competence in all procedures required by a Phlebotomist, including, but not limited to bleeding time tests, blood cultures, blood collection, sampling and handling is required.
    • Ability to effectively assess feasibility and quality of specimens and testing and communicate such to physician to ensure usefulness of specimens relative to diagnosis required.
    • Excellent customer service and patient care skills are required.
