    • Ensures that the appropriate physician receives the X-ray.
    • Maintains required records including patient records, daily logs and monthly reports.
    • Performs quantity and quality control checks.
    • Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiologic equipment on a routine basis, including determining equipment repairs.
    • Prepares patients for radiological procedures.
    • Protects patient, self and other staff from radiation hazards.
    • Follows established procedures for infection control, patient care and safety that are in compliance with all federal, state and local standards and departmental protocols.
    • Selects proper ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis.
    • Adjusts/sets radiographic controls.
    • Positions patients and takes X-rays of specific parts of the anatomy as requested by physicians. 
    • Checks X-ray for clarity of image, retaking when necessary.
    • Substitutes for and performs the duties of other personnel in the department when not performing specific X-ray Technician functions.
    • Performs other job-related duties as required.




    • Current New York State Department of Health X-Ray certification
    • Knowledge of how to use radiology/mammography equipment and other department equipment
    • Knowledge of customer service concepts
    • Skill in using radiology technology. Stays current with state-of-art
    • Skill in performing radiology/mammography and other tests
    • Skill in customer service principles by appropriately teaching patients about procedures and dealing with them in courteous manner
    • Ability to interact effectively with physicians, nurses, other staff and patients
    • Ability to organize time and prioritize work appropriately
    • Ability to handle paperwork requirements in timely manner
    • New York State Technician License
    • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration
    • Knowledge of radiology principles, methods and tests


    • Associate’s degree in radiological technology from accredited X-ray technician program
    • Minimum of one year experience in a medical practice environment
