    Responsibilities

     

    In this role you will:

     

     

    • Take Ocular medical histories
    • Perform Refractions and Prescribe
    • Performing HEDIS diabetic Eye Exams
    • Provide pre-and post-operative care

    Qualifications

    Required:

     

    We are seeking candidates that are Board Certified in Optometry, coupled with 1-2 years’ experience in performing general optometry with a strong focus and understanding of HEDIS quality measures. We are an environment dedicated to high quality patient care with an emphasis on value based medicine. Must hold DPA and TPA Certifications and have successfully completed all parts of the NBEO examination. The Optometrist diagnoses, manages, and treats conditions and diseases of the human eye and visual system with only non-invasive procedures. Examines eyes and visual system, diagnoses problems or impairments, prescribes corrective lenses, and provides treatment. May prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions.  Does not perform surgery, laser surgery, injections, eyelid procedures and foreign body removal.

     

    •  Minimum 1 – 3 years of experience performing general optometry preferred
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational ability, time management and ability to prioritize work required
    • Excellent clinical expertise and decision-making required
    • Ability to exercise independent judgment, relative decision making with a high degree of accountability required
    • Working knowledge of pharmacology and evidence-based treatments for eye conditions and diseases required
    • Excellent understanding of HEDIS quality measures related to Ophthalmology required
    • Outstanding interpersonal and problem resolution skills requireCurrent NY State License as Optometrist required
    • Current TPA (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents) Certification required
    • DPA (Administration of Topical Diagnostic Pharmaceuticals) Certification   required
    • Completion of Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from an accredited Optometry school required
    • Successful completion of all parts of the NBEO examination required
    • Fulfill appropriate ongoing CME requirements require
