The Physical Therapist shall perform various functions that help in the treatment of physical disabilities of patients suffering from injury or disease.

Responsibilities

  • Interact directly with patients in a clinical capacity to assess therapeutic and rehabilitative needs, develop and manage appropriate treatment plans as needed.        
  • Perform treatment that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities.  
  • Participate in the overall restoration, maintenance and promotion of fitness and health.    
  • Document the patients’ progress, conduct periodic examinations and modify treatment as required.             
  • Assist patients in therapeutic processes as necessary, including lifting, pulling, pushing, balancing and coordinating movements.    
  • Effectively communicate with and educate patients about their physical therapy treatments.              
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.  

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapist education program required.
  • Must complete and pass the national and State licensure examinations.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience or recent completion of an accredited physical therapy degree program required
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret and implement treatment plans.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and all levels of personnel.
  • Demonstrated competency in a multi-disciplinary environment with indication for sound clinical assessment and decision-making.
  • Valid New York State physical therapy license required.
