The Radiology Supervisor plans, organizes and directs all aspects of the radiology department in the designated Medical Office(s).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily department operations. Ensures that all radiological duties and orders given by licensed providers are carried out. Supervises radiologic services in accordance with organizational and governmental standards. Maintains adequate staffing coverage.
  • Assists in the recruiting, hiring, orientation, training, and evaluations of staff, including team building through regular meetings. Maintains minutes from department meetings.
  • Develops guidelines for prioritizing work activities, evaluating effectiveness, and modifying activities as necessary.
  • Collects/analyzes data, prepares and presents information/statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Ensures proper preparation for various inspections and provides follow-up with the appropriate regulatory agency, as appropriate. Responsible for continued compliance.
  • Reviews department performance and ensures compliance, accreditation, legal and other regulatory requirements.
  • Implements and supports organizational policies and procedures and initiatives relative to the Radiology Department. Maintains appropriate logs.
  • Monitors PACS for exams performed in the assigned office.
  • Requests and receives supplies and minor equipment necessary for the operations of the department in compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Ensures that HIPAA Regulations are maintained.
  • Participates in performance of radiologic procedures, as necessary.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years’ experience as a technologist.
  • Experience with radiology equipment and testing to determine needs and evaluate equipment for purchase.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to enhance the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with employees, administrative and medical staff, patients and the public.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and systems as well as clinical office procedures, computer systems and applications, medical practice terminology and reimbursement policies.
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, delegating and supervising.
  • Skilled in evaluating the effectiveness of existing methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of radiology to direct and back-up activities of staff.
  • Knowledge of radiology standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of safety requirement to provide instructions and to recognize and correct hazardous conditions.
  • Skilled in providing direction, guidance and instruction to staff.
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, ordering providers, staff members and the public.
  • Knowledge / experience with PACS, EMR, and digital systems.
  • Computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Two years’ supervisory experience including administrative/budgetary duties.
  • Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification/registration required.
  • NYS Licensed Technologist required
  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiology.
