The Urgent Care Medical Director (UCMD) plays a key role at the East New York Medical Office and is responsible for clinical oversight of the East New York Medical Office urgent care/express care department.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical support daily to the urgent care/express care center
  • Collaborates with the center’s site medical director, nurse manager and director of facilities
  • Manages the urgent care clinical provider team comprised of nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical assistants, and nursing staff.
  • Act as the supervising/collaborating physician for urgent care advanced practice clinicians
  • Oversees implementation and generation of appropriate clinical protocols
  • Uses available reports, medical records, and on-site observation to review and improve the quality of care delivered by each individual provider
  • Provide training of new providers and clinical care tech staff as needed
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of provider coding and documentation
  • Assures medical involvement in the development, approval, and review of all policies, procedures, and protocols governing clinical care.
  • Monitor and manage Urgent Care's patient satisfaction scores
  • Collaborate with operations team to resolve patient care complaints and grievances
  • Other duties may be required based on hospital specific requirements or needs
  • Conducts Weekly Medical Staff Meetings
  • Prepares for and maintains UCAOA UCC accreditation
  • Other committee participation as necessary

Qualifications

 

  • Board Certification in Family Medicine, Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
  • A license to practice medicine in the state of New York
  • A valid DEA certificates
  • BLS Certification
  • Advanced certificaitons; ACLS, PALS, ATLS, CALS (Comprehensive Advanced Life Support)
  • Three to five years clinical experience in an urgent care, emergency department or equivalent
  • Demonstrates competency in triage, diagnosis, and treatment to assure high standards of patient care and safety are maintained.
  • Demonstrate and quantify experience with change management
  • Utilize metrics to measure, analyze and manage clinical performance in alignment with organizational objectives
  • Demonstrate ability to motivate and influence the behavior of healthcare professionals
  • Identify and manage outliers on key performance indicators and core business metrics
  • Three to five years emergency medicine or urgent care management experience
  • Experience in the urgent care center accreditation process ( UCAOA)
